Mythili Biography

Mythili is a noted and successful actress of south Indian cinema. She debut with Malayalam movie, Paleri Manikyam: Oru Pathirakolapathakathinte Katha directed by Ranjith. This critically acclaimed movie is regarded as a trendsetter of Malayalam and she played the lead role of Manikyam, newly wedded bride being brutally raped and killed. The movie is said the true story of the first recorded murder case in Kerala and Mammootty played three distinct roles in this movie. Apart from Paleri Manikyam, she was the second heroine of the blockbuster hit of 2012, Salt N' Pepper. In both these movies, she acted aside Shweta Menon who won Kerala State Film Award for Best Actress for both these movies. 

Her real name is Brighty Balachandran. The name, Maithili was given by Ranjith. She was born in Konni of Pathanamthitta district on 24 March 1988. Her father Balachandran is an accountant of a British company in Dubai. Mother is Beena. Her elder brother, Vipin is a doctor in US. Her schooling was done at Mount Bethany EHSS, Mylapra, Pathanamthitta and Govt Higher secondary school, Konni. She gained attention through her debut movie, Paleri Manikyam: Oru Pathirakolapathakathinte Katha. , Salt N' Pepper – placed her name among the established actresses of Mollywood. This role earned her a nomination for Best Supporting Actress at 59th Filmfare Awards South.

She has acted in Malayalam movies like Mayamohini, Shikkar, Chattambinadu, Chattambi naadu, Bhoomiyude Avakashikal, Kerala café, Njanum Ente Familiyum, Poppins, Matinee, Breaking News Live, Cowboy, Honey bee, Kadal Kadannu Oru Maathukutty, Black berry, Vedivazhipadu, Nadodi mannan, Naughty professor and Kanakompathu. Her upcoming projects are Ente Sathyanweshana Pareekshakal and Mazhaneerthullikal. 

Her entry to film industry was just co-incidental. Ranjith happened to see her photos and asked her to attend an audition for the movie. Ranjith was searching for a new face with traditional looks and he searched many places like Mumbai, Chennai and Bangalore. Luckily, Maithili was chosen. Earlier, she has appeared in many television ads and her debut was to happen with Tamil movie, Guthirai. But the movie got shelved and as she had signed a contract, she could sign any more movies. Thus she debut with Malayalam. She had completed air hostess studies and was doing graduation when she entered film industry.
