Mushtaq Khan Biography

Mushtaq Khan is a film actor associated with Hindi cinema, best known for playing comic and supporting roles. He hails from Baihar town of Balaghat district Madhya Pradesh. This veteran actor has been quite active in film industry since 1980s, and has also played many memorable roles on Hindi small screen. Most recently in 2017, he won Lions Gold Awards Best Favourite Actor in a Supporting Role for the series, Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi. He played the role of Baldev Tripathi, Dev's uncle/Ishwari's elder brother in the show. His role in Tedhe Medhe Sapne earned him initial recognition in television industry and also a nomination for best comic actor at Indian Telly Awards in 2002.

Mushtak Khan hails from Baihar, Madhya Pradesh. In his early movies of 1980s, his name has been credited as Mushtaq. He has appeared in over a hundred films in a career spanning to 4 decades, and some of them are indeed memorable and hilarious in comedy genre. He has been type casted many times in the role of Sub Inspector, Hotel Manager, Assistant, Shop owner, Bus Conductor etc. In fact he is yet to play a meaty role on big screen. But Mushtak got best roles from television industry, where he earned fame as a comedian as well as supporting artist. Tedhe Medhe Sapne was one among his early roles which gave him the real breakthrough.

His first credited film role is Albert Pinto Ko Gussa Kyon Aata Hai (1980), where he was seen as a Lecherous Shopper trying to flirt with Smita Patil. Since then he played numerous brief roles throughout 1980s and continued in the 1990s, and slowly started gaining attention from viewers. He was seen in comic roles throughout 1990s and later, which include - Hera Pheri, Baazi, Mrityudata, Lahoo Ke Do Rang, Major Saab, Jodi No.1, Gadar Ek Prem Katha, Welcome, That Girl in Yellow Boots, Rowdy Rathore, Once Upon Ay Time In Mumbai Dobaara, Rascals etc.
