Murugabhoopathy Biography 
Murugabhoopathy is an award winning theater personality and playwright from Tamil Nadu. He is associated with Tamil theater. Sangeet Natak Akademi awarded him with Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar award in 2011, to promote his talent as a theatre persona. His siblings - Tamilselvan and Konangi are well known Tamil short story writers. His father M.S. Shanmugam is a novelist, short-story writer and poet, while his maternal grandfather ‘Madurakavi' Baskaradoss was a popular playwright. Thus many of his family members are associated with literal world. Murugabhoopathy wrote his first play in the early 1990s, and since then he is active in this field.
Murugaboopathy hailed from a family of writers from Naagalapuram. Later his family moved to Nenmeni Mettupatti during his childhood days. Many of his family members were writers and playwrights, and he belongs to the third generation of writers. He currently lives in Kovilpatti. His post-graduation was done from Pondicherry. Apart from writing Tamil short stories, his brothers also owned a street play group Shristi. Murugaboopathy’s first stint with theatre was through the same group started by his brothers, and he forayed into acting. Started off as a stage actor, he later wrote many successful plays for which he is known for.
He was a part of street play "Safdar Hashmi Nataka Kuzhu", playing the role of an actor and the artists performed this street play in more than 150 villages. He has also done many street plays on social awareness and current issues of the society. As a playwright his first work was Marana Veetin Kurippukal, written in 1993. Sarithirathin Atheetha Museum, Vanathathi, Mayakkomalikalin Jalakkannadi, Neer Nadodikal, Uthira Mugamoodi, Kutram Patriya Udal, Chemmoothai, Soorpanangu etc are a few more.
