Mukul Mudgal Biography 
Mukul Mudgal is an Indian jurist from Delhi, born as the son of Vinay Chandra Maudgalya, founder of Gandharva Mahavidyalaya. Mudgal is a retired Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court who headed the Mudgal Committee. He currently serves as the head of the FIFA Governance Committee and Review Committee. He served as the Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court from 2009 to 2011. While all his family members are related to arts following the legacy of their father, Mudgal chose administration and law. Famous singer Subha Mudgal is his ex-wife.
He belongs to a family with musical heritage, with deep links to art forms. Mukul is the son of Vinay Chandra Maudgalya, a famous Hindustani vocalist Gwalior Gharana, who established the art institute Gandharva Mahavidyalaya in Delhi in 1939. Her brother Madhup Mudgal is a musician, who currently serves as the head of the art school started by his father. His sister Madhavi Mudgal is a noted Odissi dancer. His former wife Subha Mudgal, a disciple of his father is a very famous musician. Quite interestingly all these artists related to dance & music forms have received Padma Shri from government of India for their immense contributions towards the field. His only son with Subha Mudgal, Dhaval is a lead singer in the Delhi-based band 'Half Step Down’, and a musician too. Subha Mudgal still keeps the same surname even after her remarriage.
Mudgal was born in New Delhi into a musical family in 1939. His father was a great music teacher of 20th century who is also remembered for the lyrics he penned for the song, Hind Desh ke Niwasi in the animation film Ek Anek Aur Ekta. Mudgal completed LL.B from Faculty of Law, University of Delhi and started practising law. He worked as an advocate at the Supreme Court of India and the Delhi High Court in 1973, in the first phase of his career.
