Muhammad Ali Biography

Maulana Muhammad Ali was an Indian writer, scholar, and Islamic leader who lived during 1874 – 13 October 1951. He was one among the disciples of Hakeem Noor-ud-Din, the first caliph the worldwide Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, founded by his close companion Mirza Ghulam Ahmad in the late 19th century. It was the reinstatement of the absolute oneness of God and the revival of Islam through the moral reformation of society along Islamic principles. He was also a follower of this form of religious belief, which propagated Islam.

 

Ali was born in Murar, Kapurthala State in 1874. His birth place now belongs to Ludhiana district, Punjab. He completed Master’s in English and law studies. He joined the Ahmadiyya Movement in 1897, and later he dedicated his full life for the propagation of Islam through this movement. After Indian independence, he moved to Pakistan and settled in Karachi. He died in Karachi on October 13, 1951, and was buried in Lahore.

 

During his life time he has published many religious books on Islam. History and Doctrines of the Babi Movement was his first published book, published in 1933. The Religion of Islam was published in 1936. The Holy Quran: Arabic text with English translation and Commentary, Bayan-ul-Quran: Urdu translation with extensive commentary, A Manual of Hadith, The Split in the Ahmadiyya Movement, True Conception of the Ahmadiyya Movement and Muhammad, The Prophet are other books he published.

 

He was one among the foremost disciples of Hakeem Noor-ud-Din, who followed Mirza Ghulam Ahmad and became his successor. Most of his efforts were concentrated in Lahore, where he spent his later years. He played a magnificent role in the revival of Islam and its practices.
