Monu Goyat Biography

Monu Goyat is an Indian Kabaddi player who plays in Pro Kabaddi series in India, and the star player of the league right now. He is the most expensive player of Pro Kabaddi League 2018, who was signed by Haryana Steelers for a whopping amount of Rs 1.51 Crore. It created headlines and history when he was signed for the biggest amount for PKL ever. Before then, Monu represented Bengal Warriors. He plays as a raider for his team. Monu played a vital role in helping Patna Pirates clinch the hat-trick of titles of last year, and that’s how he became the most expensive player of this season, ahead of Star raider Rahul Chaudhari.

 

He was born on October 16, 1992. He hails from a small village in Bhiwani district of Haryana. Monu started playing Kabaddi at the age of 5. His uncle taught his game. After that he took more interest in Kabaddi than studies. It made his family lend support in his sporting career. He was representing Services Sports Control Board previously in Kabaddi. For the same season, he missed the early seasons of Pro Kabaddi. After players voiced against the rule of Services players were allowed to play in PKL, and Monu got opportunity to play for the league for the first time in season 4. He first played with Bengal Warriors. Monu amassed 59 raid points from 13 matches in season 4.

 

Monu was bought by Patna Pirates the next season, and played a magnificent role in helping the team to lift the cup. Monu this time scored 191 raid points as a secondary raider. He was a member of Senior Federation Cup team which won finals in 2018. Currently he is India’s Most Valuable Non-Cricket Sportsperson.
