Mona Vasu Biography

Mona Vasu is a popular television actress of Indian small screen. Her popular role is - title character Miilee in the TV series ‘Miilee’ on STAR Plus. She has also acted in Ssshhhh...Koi Hai, Radhaa Ki Betiyaan Kuch Kar Dikhayengi, Specials @ 10, Parichay and Hum- Ek Chote Gaon Ki Badi Kahani. In 2005, she won Best Fresh New Talent award at Indian Television Academy Awards. She is the winner of reality show, Iss Jungle Se Mujhe Bachao of Sony TV in 2009. She played lead role in a tele fim of Sahara, 30 Day Trial in 2004.

Mona Vasu, also known as Mona Wasu was born in Delhi on October 15, 1982. She is the youngest child of her family and has an elder brother. She moved to Mumbai to pursue a career in acting. Before that she completed her degree in Sociology from Sri Venkateswara College, New Delhi in 2003. Same year she started her modelling career and appeared in many ads of leading brands. She hosted the weekly travel show Operation Gold, made on the life of Indian soldiers, from 2003 to 2004 on STAR Gold. In 2007, she hosted the weekly songs countdown show Idea Ek Se Bad Kar Ek on Star One, based on Bollywood. Mona also appeared in Madhur Bhandarkar’s Heroine series on Special@10.

Mona was active in theatre while she was studying at Sri Venkateswara College, New Delhi. Those experiences polished her acting skills and helped her a lot in television field. She has also done a couple of productions with theatre groups like Khilona and Antara while at college. Though she is seen in saree cladded woman/daughter-in-law roles in Ekta Kapoor’s serials, in real sense she feels unrealistic. She appeared in the play, Red Hot directed by Saurabh Shukla which was played at Bharat Mahaotsav, Delhi in 2011.
