Mohit Raina Biography

Mohit Raina is a popular television actor who appears in movies as well. He is most known for the lead role of Lord Shiva in the TV series, Devon Ke Dev – Mahadev, that’s currently shown on Life OK since 2011. This single role made him so popular that he has appeared in Lord Shiva’s role in a couple of mythological series – Mahabharat (2013) and Katha Mahadev Putra Bal Ganesh Ki. He has also appeared in television serials like Chehra, Bandini, Antariksh - Ek Amar Katha and Bhabhi. The single popular serial, Devon Ke Dev – Mahadev has given him numerous awards and nominations at different award functions, major awards being Best Actor In A Lead Role (Jury) at Indian telly awards, Best Actor TV Fiction-Male at Big star entertainment awards and Stellar Performance of The Year at Zee Gold awards.  

Raina was born and brought up in Jammu. He did his schooling from Kendriya Vidyalaya and took a degree in commerce from Jammu University. To pursue his dream as a chartered accountant, he reached Mumbai. He was suffering from obesity at a younger age and to pursue a career in modelling, he reduced his weight from 107 kg to 78 kg and participated in 2005 Grasim Mr. India contest. He finished as one among the 5 finalists. 

He debut small screen in the year 2004 with television serial, Antariksh that was aired on Star Plus. He played supporting role in Mithun Chakraborty starrer film Don Muthu Swami (2008). The following year he returned back to small screen with suspense thriller, Chehra, aired on Star Plus. Next year he played lead role in Ganga Kii Dheej on Sahara One. But it was Devon Ke Dev – Mahadev, started in Life OK in 2011 which made him a household name.
