Mohammed Rafique Biography

Mohammed Rafique is an Indian professional footballer of India national team, and also plays for Indian Super League - professional football league in India. He plays as Central midfielder for Mumbai City in ISL. He hails from Kolkata, and has played for Kolkata in football league in 2014 and 2015 seasons. In fact a last minute goal from Mohammed Rafique saw Kerala Blasters lose 1–0 to Atlético de Kolkata in the inaugural season of football league in 2014. Thus Kolkata team claimed the first season trophy through his performance. He has played in two ISL finals till now. Rafique also featured in last season's final for Kerala Blasters but ended up on the losing side.

 

Mohammed Rafique was born on 26 March 1991 in Kolkata, West Bengal. He spent his younger years at Tollygunge Agragami. Rafique joined Prayag United in 2010 and played 6 senior games in his debut season. He scored his first goal against Chirag United Kerala. He has been associated with United Sports Club since 2010, and played four seasons till 2013-2014. He joined East Bengal in 2014–15 and till now he has played 4 seasons for this club.

 

He joined Indian Super League in 2014 as a member of Atlético de Kolkata, and played a magnificent role to give the first trophy to his team. His last minute goal in the finals against Kerala Blasters helped Atlético de Kolkata to win the first season of Indian Super League. He was associated with same team the following season too. He joined Kerala Blasters in 2016, and played for the team in finals too. But the team lost to Atlético de Kolkata. Till now he has played 100+ league matches for different teams.
