Mohammed Rafi (footballer) Biography

Mohammed Rafi is an Indian footballer from Kerala. He plays as a Forward for his team, and is currently playing for Chennaiyin at Indian Super League. He has played for Atletico de Kolkata (loan) in 2014 and Kerala Blasters in 2015-2016 season. He has played with some of the leading sports club of India such as Mumbai Tigers, Churchill Brothers, Mahindra United etc. He joined national football team in 2009 and has played 7 matches for team India, which includes one international goal. His younger brothers Mohammad Shafi and Mohammad Razi are also football players. Shafi has played for Viva Kerala FC and Razi is currently with associated with KSEB.

His full name is Madambillath Mohammed Rafi. He was born on 24 May 1982 in Trikaripur, Kasaragod, Kerala. He played football for the first time for State Bank of Travancore (SBT), also as all-Malayali squad and rose to prominence over the years, and has played many international matches for India as well. one of the most valuable footballer players of present times, when SBT was promoted to first division of National Football League in 2004, he scored 4 goals in that season and came to limelight for the first time.

He was roped in by Mahindra United for the next season. In 09-10 I-league, he scored a total of 14 goals, which itself is a record for an Indian striker. He also received Mahindra United's player of the year award. After that he played for Mumbai, DSK Shivajians and for three different clubs in different seasons for Indian Super League. He won ISL Emerging Player of the Match award against NorthEast United FC in 2015 Indian Super League. He is the third Indian to score a goal in the ISL final 2016, when he scored it for Kerala blasters. But his team lost the finals to Atletico de Kolkata.
