Mohammad Samad Biography

Mohammad Samad is a teenager actor associated with Bollywood known for playing pivot supporting and character roles. He started his career in 2008 as a child artist at the age of 8 and was a part of National award winning film directed by Nandita Das, Firaaq. In 2012 he played titular role of a child in Gattu, which awarded him Best Child Actor Award at the 12th New York Indian Film Festival, and the movie was shown at many film festivals. However in mainstream cinema, he came to spotlight after playing the role of young son of Vinayak Rao in Tumbbad (2018), who assists his father in treasure hunting. In 2019 he played one more major role of his career. He played teenager son who attempts suicide in Sushant Rajput Singh and Shraddha Kapoor starrer ‘Chhichhore’.

 

Mohammad Samad was born in Roorkee of Uttarakhand, in year 2000. His father runs a grocery shop, and it was not an easy task for him to bring up the big family of 6 kids including the youngest Samad. In 2008 he played a brief role in Firaaq marking his screen debut. Gattu proved to be a major turning point of his career, and he received the titular role after an audition at school. Initially he was shortlisted in the best 20, and finally chosen for the role. After the film release, he turned a celebrity at school. However his next film Haramchor got released in 2017 only.

 

As an actor he earned accolades playing the role of a greedy son in ‘Tumbbad’. The acclaimed fantasy film received numerous honours at National Film awards, Filmfare awards and many other award functions. It also helped him to bag the meaty role of a teenager in ‘Chhichhore’. After the huge success of the film, he has a promising career ahead.
