Mohammad Aijaz Asad Biography 
Mohammad Aijaz Asad is an IAS officer from the state of Jammu and Kashmir who is currently serving as the District Magistrate/Deputy Commissioner of Rajouri. He is a 2012 batch Indian Administrative Service officer from J&K cadre. He is the first IAS officer from the border district of Poonch after 1947. Asad is a noted Urdu Poet also. He writes political satire and romance. Most recently in 2018, he published his first book, ‘Barf Zaar’ which earned him Bhasha Parishad Yuva Puruskar in 2019. He also received Best Electoral Practices Award in 2017 for recording highest enrollment of electors in the state and also for new additions in the district of Ramban.
Mohammad Aijaz Asad hails from Dharana village in the district of Poonch in Jammu and Kashmir. Since childhood he has witnessed a lot of gunfights and cross-LoC shelling in the border village, where he was born. His father is an engineer by profession in the government department while his mother is a homemaker. Asad had to face a lot of hardships to complete his school education, as he had to walk 8 kms daily to reach his school. His education till 10th was done at Government Higher Secondary School, Mendhar and his higher secondary education was done at SM Jain Higher Secondary School, Jammu.
Later he enrolled at IIT Delhi, and after completing his studies he worked in a Delhi-based engineering consultancy, Engineers India Limited. He got qualified to write Indian Civil Service Examination in 2011. He was allocated in Indian Revenue Service department and given training till 2012. He was given the home cadre of Jammu and Kashmir. SDM of Khansahib Sub-Division in Budgam district, Deputy/Additional Secretary to CM Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, Deputy Commissioner of Ramban, Deputy Commissioner of Shopian etc were the administrative positions held by him earlier.
