Mir Sarwar Biography

Mir Sarwar is a noted actor known for playing character roles. He predominantly appears in Hindi movies and television serials. He was most recently seen in Mani Ratnam's Tamil film Kaatru Veliyidai (2017). Associated with Bollywood since 2015, he was seen in Bollywood films – Phantom, Daddy, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Dishoom, Jolly LLB 2 etc. Suspense thriller, Ittefaq: It Happened One Night is his upcoming release where he plays a pivot role.

His full name is Mohammad Sarwar Mir. He hails from Srinagar, Kashmir born in the year 1977. Till 2014 he used to travel to Mumbai to attend auditions, look tests and finally shifted to the city after that, to pursue a career in Bollywood. In 2015 he bagged two major projects - Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015) and Phantom (2015). He played the brief role of Shahida’s father in his first film, Bajrangi Bhaijaan. The movie starring Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor was a major hit at box office.

Later he worked in Kashmiri films too, along with Bollywood appearances. In 2016 he was seen in Half Widow, the movie released in Urdu and Kashmiri, and in 2017, in the Kashmiri film Kashmir Daily. This social drama was produced and directed by Kashmiri filmmaker Hussein Khan under the banner of his own production house Seven Two Creations.

In 2017 he also made his south Indian debut through Mani Ratnam’s Tamil film Kaatru Veliyidai. He opted out of his role in Naam Shabana for working in ace director’s film. Mir played the antagonist in the romantic film which opened to mixed reviews. The movie also starred Bollywood actress Aditi Rao Hydari and Karthi in lead roles. Mir attended the auditions held in Mumbai to bag the major role. He gave a screen test as well as look test.
