Milind Shrivastav Biography

Milind Shrivastav is the brother of Anand Shrivastav and together they have formed the success music composers of Bollywood during 90’s. Their pair is known as Anand-Milind, most popular for movies like QSQT, Beta, Dil, Rakshak, Coolie no.1, Mrityudund, Baagi, Chal mere bhai, Krantiveer, Dayra, Anari, Dulhe raja, Jhooth Bole Kauwa Kaate and Gopi Kishen. They have done a few Telugu movies as well. Milind Shrivastav is the son of great composer of yesterdays, Chitragupt.  As composers, they are best known for trend settling music of Qayamat se qayamat tak in the year 1988, the single movie for which they won a Filmfare, despite being nominated 4 times till now. They have given successful music to many of Govinda’s movies – Coolie No.1, Kismat, Hero No. 1, Banarasi Babu, Dulhe Raja, Aunty No. 1, Khullam Khulla Pyaar Kare, Rajaji, Maha Sangram, Swarg, Jaan Se Pyaara, Chhote Sarkar, Akhiyon Se Goli Maare, Baaz and Raja Babu.

 

First experience is their association with their father, accompanying him as assistants. His career started in association with his brother - Anand Shrivastav in the year 1984, Ab aayega mazaa. Then they jointly worked on Hindi movies as well as private albums. In between, they did a Telugu album named ‘vennalai rani’. The biggest break through was Qayamat se qayamat tak in the year 1988, followed by a string of success movies in the early 90’s – Dil, Beta, Maha sangram and Baagi. The combination was quite successful with the director Indra Kumar - Madhuri Dixit combination. They are considered mentors of playback singers like Abhijeet, Poornima and Sapna Mukherjee. Leading female singer of south, Chitra debut Bollywood through the songs of ‘Love’ composed by Anand-Milind. Though the movie was not successful, the songs provided big break to this Nightingale of south. They have also used many leading actors for playback voice. A few instances are Amitabh bachchan, Neelam, Aditya Pancholi and Govinda.

 

They have also used the voices of Kumar Sanu, Udit Narayan, Alka Yagnik, Anuradha Paudwal and Kavitha Krishnamurthy. They have also used the voices of pop singers like Swetha Shetty, Sunitha Rao and Sapna Awasthi.  Yesudas has sung a beautiful song for critically well acclaimed movie, Dayra. Major hits of this combination include Coolie no.1, Bol Radha bol, Vinasak, Rakshak, QSQT, beta, Dil, Maha sangram and Baagi.
