Meiyang Chang Biography

Meiyang Chang is an Indian actor, television host, singer and qualified dentist. He came to limelight with singing reality show, Indian Idol season 5, where he reached top 5. His innocent looks and singing talents gained a lot of fans during the season and he became the host of same program next season next year. He debut silver screen with debut venture of Parmeet Sethi as a director. The successful movie was Badshah Company, where he acted aside Shahid Kapoor and Anushka Sharma. Later he has successfully co-hosted many television shows as well as award nights. He has also appeared in a few television ads.

Meiyang Chang was born on the 6th of October, 1982 in Dhanbad, Jharkhand. His ancestors are from China. His father is a dentist, while his mother a beautician and Chang is their single child. He attended Colonel Brown Cambridge School in Dehradun and Wynberg Allen School in Mussoorie. He completed BDS from V.S. Dental College & Hospital in Bangalore in 2005 and is a qualified dentist. He appeared in Indian Idol in the year 2008 and became immensely popular among the Indian viewers as well as judges of the show. He finished fifth and bagged a contract with Sony Music India to record an album Tu To Na Aayi. After that he performed in many live shows around the globe.

He became the first ex-contestant to ever host the show in all its international adaptations, when he co-hosted the next season of same reality show – Indian Idol. That shows how much popular he was among the masses. He debut Bollywood with Yash raj Film’s Badshah Company. He has hosted many television shows and award functions of which Mirchi Music Awards, India's Got Talent - Season 3, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa Season 4 and New talent awards need special mention.
