Meghna Naidu Biography

Meghna Naidu is an Indian actress and model who came to limelight with chartbuster music video, Kaliyon ka chaman, pictured on her. This music video for UMI10's "Kaliyon Ka Chaman" (2003) was an official remix of Lata Mangeshkar's 1981 song "Thoda Resham Lagta Hai" done as Jay-z remix. Another popular music video of Naidu is Saru Maini's video Dil De Diya Tha (Sutta Mix). Later she has appeared in a few films as an actress and item girl, though not became successful as an actress. Hawas released in 2004 was her debut Hindi movie, post her successful music video, Kaliyon ka chaman.

Meghna Naidu was born in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh as the daughter of former tennis coach, Ethiraj. Now he works in Air India. Her mother Purnima, a half-Bengali is a school teacher. She has one younger sister, Sona. She was brought up in Mumbai where she did her studies. Meghna is a trained bharatnatyam dancer and has learnt this art form for 7 years. She has also trained tennis in US for 4 years before joining entertainment industry. When she became busy with shooting, her mother resigned the job of a teacher and accompanied her at shooting locations. At age 18, she met a model co-ordinator at the wedding of her cousin in Chennai. He later called her for a screen test and thus got her first movie. It was a Telugu film Prema Sakshi released in 1999 followed by a few more south Indian movies, before ‘Kaliyom ka chaman’ happened to her.

Kaliyon ka chaman was the real break of her career which proved her versatility of an outstanding dancer and performer. She was accompanying her friend to the audition for the video, when she was approached by the team and got selected by Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru. It helped her to earn several projects, both in north and south though she was not able to gain much success. She has also contested in the television shows Fear Factor - Khatron Ke Khiladi and Dancing Queen.
