Meenu Thakur Biography 
Meenu Thakur is an Indian Kuchipudi dance exponent who hails from Saharanpur, UP. She has given performances in Indian festivals and outside India as well. She has also choreographed many productions such as Trilokarakshini (2014), Bhamakalapam in Hindi (2015), Samarpan-The Saga of Mirabai (2016), Yashodara-The Sage's Queen (2017) and Navagraha Charitam-The Power of Planets (2017). She established a dance school to teach Kuchipudi – Suramya in New Delhi 1999 and has numerous disciples. The students of Suramya have performed in various national festivals under her guidance.
Meenu Thakur was born on 1 July 1972 at Saharanpur, UP. Her family hails from Rajasthan. Her father Harswroop Thakur is an advocate and her mother Shakuntla is a housewife. Meenu Thakur trained in Kathak and Kuchipudi, and later concentrated on Kuchipudi for her professional career. She began her training with Padma Bhushan Swapnasundari and Natyacharya Pasumurthy Sitaramaiya. She has been performing as an artist for the past 25 years of so, and has taught dozens of students till now. She is an established artist of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations, and has performed in almost all cultural events and dance festivals of India.
She is also an ‘A’ Graded artist of Doordarshan, and has given several performances for the national channel. She regularly conducts workshops and demos too. Khajuraho Festival, Kal Ki Kalakar Festival, Natyanjali Festival, Konark Festival, Modhera Dance Festival, Hampi Mahotsava etc are some of the prestigious dance festivals in which she and her troupe has performed. Her presentations mostly concentrate on socially relevant themes like save girl child, environment and traditions. Delhi-based Kuchipudi danseuse Meenu Thakur is known for keeping traditions alive and manages to reach out to the youth as well.
