Mayuri Upadhya Biography 
Mayuri Upadhya is an Indian choreographer associated with theatre productions. She is also a dancer, entrepreneur and TV personality based in Bangalore. Among all her works, Mughal-E-Azam based on the film with the same name remains most successful, and most recently she was voted as the Best Choreographer by BroadwayWorld, the prestigious awards. International Choreography Award, Seoul, Uday Shankar Awards for Choreography, and a Manav Ratna are other major honours.
Mayuri Upadhya was born on 30 December 1979 in Udupi, Karnataka to Muralidhar Upadhya and Shamala Upadhya. She has one elder sister who is also a choreographer. Mayuri completed her college studies from Sri Vani Education Centre and MES College. Mayuri Upadhya is a trained classical dancer, and currently pursuing a career as a choreographer. She is trained in Odissi and Bharatnatyam dance forms from different gurus. She is also trained in martial arts of Kerala – Kalaripayattu. After studies, she along with a group of 5 colleagues established Nritarutya in 2000 to promote different art forms.
She works as an independent choreographer for theatre productions, live concerts etc. After establishing the dance school, Nritarutya, she started her successful career as a choreographer. ‘Ardhanarishwara’ in 2004 brought her to limelight, though she has done works like Oum, Yantra, Footnote, Dwandwa earlier. ‘Kali’ in the year 2008 remained one of her most successful pieces of choreographed works.
In 2012, she choreographed her first musical – Madhushala. She started working with music composer-singer Raghu Dixit in those days and later got married. They have worked in many musicals together. Currently the couple are estranged and living separately for past three days. They are to file a divorce very soon. In 2016 she marked her Bollywood debut as a choreographer through Mirzya.
