Manoj Prabhakar Biography 
Manoj Prabhakar is a former cricketer of Indian team. He was a right-arm medium-pace bowler and a lower-order batsman. He has also served Indian team as an opener for many matches. His records include 96 wickets in Test cricket, 157 wickets in ODI and over 385 first class wickets in first class games for Delhi. As a batsman, he has scored 1600 runs from 39 test matches and 1858 runs from 130 ODIs. He retired from international cricket in 1996. He was a BJP candidate in Parliament elections, 2004. But he couldn’t win a seat. In the year 2000 Prabhakar was banned from international cricket for his involvement in the match-fixing scandal. His first class cricket career spanned during the period 1982-1997.
Manoj was born on April 15, 1963, Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. He made test debut in the year 1984 against England (second test of the series) at Delhi. But he could manage get only 1 wicket from both the innings. He made 25 runs in the first innings batting at 9th position. His last test was played against New Zealand at Cuttack, November 8-12, 1995. He made his ODI debut with Sri Lanka at Sharjah on Apil 8, 1984. He did outstanding performance with bowling figures, 10-3-16-2 at Economic rate of just 1.6. Sri Lanka was bowled out for 96 runs and India won the match with 10 wickets in hand. Manoj’s last match was also against Sri Lanka at Delhi, Mar 2, 1996.
This low order batsman has often contributed to the team when it was in need of runs or if needed a defense strategy. His career ended abruptly when he was booed on his home ground at Delhi with figures (4-0-47-0) against Sri Lanka in 1996 World Cup. He retired from the team and when he was banned from the game, he tried his luck in politics. He has also worn the cap of a cricket coach.
