Manoj Muntashir Biography

Manoj Muntashir (Manoj Shukla) is a leading lyricist of Bollywood at present. He shot to fame after writing the song Galiyan of Ek Villian, followed by the exotic number, Kahe sataye of Rang rasiya. Hindi version of Bahubali: The beginning, Ek Paheli Leela, Wazir, Baby, Mastizaade etc are some of his recent works. Manoj's first film as lyricist was U Bomsi N Me, written 10 years back. As on 2016, he is currently working on 18 projects, with 7 ones being solo ones. Bahubali – The Conclusion is one of his upcoming projects. In 2015 he wrote Hindi dialogues and a song for the Malayalam super hit – Anarkali.

He was born on 27 February 1976 in Amethi, Uttar Pradesh. His real name is Manoj Shukla. He is the single child to his parents. He was introduced to the world of shayaris through the works of Sahir Ludhiyanvi and he decided to take writing as his profession. As he developed interest in poems and shayaris he decided to choose a pen name and that’s why he changed his name to Manoj Muntashir. He came to Mumbai in 1999 with 700 rupees in pocket. He dwelled on pavements and fed himself by the mercy of his friends and well-wishers during his struggling days.

His big break happened when Amitabh Bachchan chose him to write the script for KBC and there was no turning back after that. Within a few weeks he started living in a comfortable house and also brought a car. As a lyricist, Buddha Mar Gaya, Woodstock Villa, The Great Indian Butterfly and Do Dooni Chaar were early works and his songs for Do Dooni Chaar were well-appreciated. Yet it took a few more years to cement his position in the industry. Galiyan of Ek Villian gave him the big break.
