Manoj Bajpai Biography

 

Manoj Bajpai is considered as one among the most talented actors of present Bollywood, who always try to experiment with roles and loves to take challenges. He has never type casted himself to a particular species and has always given the best and bought deviations in his acting as much as possible.

 

Most movie lovers remember him for the most memorable role in Ram Gopal Varma’s Satya in 1998. Though he played the supporting role in the movie as the friend of hero, J.D.Chakravarthy, it was Manoj Bajpai who won applauses most. He has done less significant roles in a few movies like Dastak, Bandit queen and Tamanna. But Satya was a movie that brought sudden stardom to this actor. Though he is not glamorous as the leading actors of B’town, through his ability and acting skills, he won admirers’ heart. For his performance in Shool as a police officer, opposite Raveena Tandon, he won BFJA best actor award in 1999.   

 

In most movies he plays the role of angry young man or police officer.  Yet when he did the role of a silent hero in the movie Pingar opposite Urmila Mathonkar, it became one among the finest performances till now. He won Special Jury awards in National awards category too. He portrayed anti-hero role in the first half where he kidnaps the heroine and forcibly marries her. In the second half we saw him growing as a finest actor and his looks and expressions were remarkable. The way by which Urmila leaves her lover and decides to live with her husband forever was fully justified by the way he carried the role. Perhaps Pingar is one among the finest movies of present times, where we got the opportunity to see Manoj Bajpai portraying a romantic role with a few words and more eye expressions.

 

His other movies as leading hero include flop movies, Dil pe mat le yaar and Ghaat, periodic movie ‘Zubeidaa’ and suspense thriller ‘Kaun’. He is the hot favourite of Ram Gopal Varma movies and has done a few more movies like Road and Daud in association with him. He won best villain in Filmfare awards for ‘Aks’ and his movies in supporting role include Gangs of Wassepur, Aarakshan, Veer Zaara, LOC Kargil, Fiza, Rajneethi, Dus kahaniyan, Acid factory and Fareb.
