Manohar Mahajan Biography 
Manohar Mahajan has been a popular announcer of the Hindi Service of Radio Ceylon, during its nostalgic golden era. Radio Ceylon is the oldest radio station in South Asia and has been popular in India for playing Hindi film songs, at a time when Radio was the only medium to hear film songs. It was a time when only classical music was played in All India Radio. Manohar Mahajan, Amin Sayani and Gopal Sharma are the golden names related to the golden era of Radio Ceylon post Indian independence. Mahajan helped to establish Radio Ceylon as the leader of the airwaves in South Asia and people used to turn on radio only to hear his voice.
While working as the Chief Announcer for Radio Ceylon, he introduced numerous, innovative and yet very popular concepts to Radio Programming. Many of them were later introduced as basic concepts of India’s broadcasting medium. He returned to India in 1975 and later continued his job as a freelance broadcaster in both radio as well as television. He is the ‘+A’ Grade Voice and Writer on the “Films Division Panel of Voices and Writers and has completed 25 years here. His voice has been recorded in more than 500 documentary films. He has also written the scripts for documentary works.
He introduced the concept of Compering Fashion and Beauty Contests as well as Trade Shows in India. Apart from 10000 Radio Programs and 7000 Radio Spots, his voice has been heard at many jingles and audio-visuals. He has also compered many stage shows and interviewed India’s leading artists. He presented Bombay Doordarshan’s most popular request program “Phir Wohi” for 3 years and popular children’s’ program “Khel Khilone” for 5 years. He has also worked as a dubbing artist for 300 Episodes for the “Discovery Channel” and over 150 episodes for the “National Geographic Channel” in Hindi.
