Manjula Gururaj Biography 
Manjula Gururaj is a Kannada playback singer. She has been one of the prominent singers of Kannada film industry in the 1980s and 1990s. She is a recipient of multiple awards and currently she runs a music school named as "Sadhana Music School" and it has three branches at Jayanagar, Basavanagudi and Malleshwaram. She received State government’s film awards for best playback singer female for the song ‘Myale kavkonda mungaramoda’ for the movie Chinnari Mutha composed by C. Ashwath. She has been associated with Doordarshan and Akashvani too, for long 14 years. She has rendered her voice for more than 2000 film songs belonging to 7 languages.
She was born in Mysore and her education was completed at Bangalore University. She took formal training in both Hindustani and Carnatic music. She got married in 1979. She joined Akashvani in 1981 and worked for two years. Then she joined Bangalore Doordarshan as a news anchor and worked till 1998. 1983 Kannada movie Rowdi Raaja marked her career debut as a playback singer. The hip hop song “Ollage Seridhare Gundu” from the movie Nanjundi Kalyana (1989) was her first major break. Later she sung more than 2000 film songs. Apart from film songs she has sung 12,500 songs belonging to devotional, classical, Indi pop, bhav geeth, folk, Ghazals and other genres and has recorded songs in 9 languages.
She has sung suprabhathas on numerous deities in 6 languages. She has given more than 4,000 live performances since the age of 7. She is a successful dubbing artist too. She began her dubbing career with 1982 movie, Ahuthi. She started Manjula Gururaj’s Sadhana Music School in 1991 and now it’s a successful music school running in three centres.
