Manisha Kelkar Biography

Manisha Kelkar is an Indian actress and TV anchor. She works in Bollywood and Marathi cinema. Kelkar made her screen debut in 2007 in the Marathi film Hyancha Kahi Nem Nahi, and since then has been regular on silver screen for more than a decade. She predominantly works in Marathi cinema and has appeared more than a dozen of films belonging to Marathi, Hindi, Telugu and English languages. She played lead roles in Bollywood films – Lottery and Bandook. In 2016 she made her south Indian debut through Telugu release, Friend Request.

 

Manisha Kelkar was born in Mumbai on 31 January 1986 into an artistic family, with links to cinema and dance. She was born to Ram Kelkar and Jeevankala Kelkar. Her father is a screenwriter while her mother is an actress and dance. Inspired from parents, Manisha too reached film industry and succeeded as an actress. She is also a trained Kathak dancer. She also hosted a few shows on Marathi television. Asian Film Festival, Marathi Film awards at ETV Marathi, Cricket World Cup on Zee Marathi channel, Comedy Express on ETV Marathi and Zhunj Marathmoli on ETV Marathi are some of the shows which she hosted.

 

She played parallel lead opposite India’s first Indian Idol, Lottery in 2009. It was the debut movie for Abhijeet Sawant and debut Hindi flick for Kelkar. Rucha Gujarathi also played an important role. Kelkar played the role of Simran Kapoor. But the thriller flopped at box office. The crime film, Bandook in 2013 was her second release, where she played lead role opposite Aditya Om. This movie also flopped at box office, and she later concentrated towards Marathi cinema.
