Manish Pandey Biography

Manish Pandey is a young cricketer associated with Indian international cricket team who serves as right-handed middle-order batsman of his team. He is also a part of Karnataka domestic cricket team and Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL. Quite popular for his power shots, he is the first Indian cricketer to score a century in IPL and it happened in the year 2009 while he was playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore. He made his ODI debut in 2015 and has played 13 matches for team India as on September 2017. His score includes one century and one half-century and has scored 300+ runs. He scored his single ODI century against Australia in 2016, and won the match for his team.

 

His full name is Manish Krishnanand Pandey. He was born on 10 September 1989 in Nainital, Uttarakhand. He started playing cricket during his primary school days at the age of 8.he completed schooling from Kendriya Vidyalaya, Nasik. He was a member of Indian team which won 2008 Under-19 World Cup and got selected to Mumbai Indians IPL team the same year. However he gained recognition the next year with Royal Challengers Bangalore after scoring his maiden century the next season with Kolkata Knight Riders. He was also selected as the Man of the Match of the final won by Kolkata Knight Riders. Very soon he made his international ODI debut against Zimbabwe on 14 July 2015.

 

His maiden innings at international cricket was a memorable one, where he made a 144-run partnership with Kedar Jadhav, when India was struggling with 82/4. He scored 71 runs in his maiden match, and since then he is associated with India’s ODI team. Manish is yet to make his Test debut, but he is well-known for his presence in IPL and domestic cricket too. He has played 9 T20 international matches for team India scoring a total of 151 runs from 9 matches. He has scored over 3000 runs in List A cricket, which include 5 centuries and 19 half centuries. He is the recipient of Madhavrao Scindia Award for most runs in Ranji Trophy for the year 2009–10.
