Manikanth Kadri Biography

Manikanth Kadri is a south Indian music director and playback singer who predominantly works in Kannada cinema. He has also worked in the rest south Indian languages as well. He is the son of legendary saxophonist Kadri Gopalnath. He started his career doing jingles, television serials and devotional songs and later moved to movies. He entered film world through Malayalam movie – Smart City and travelling through other south Indian languages, he finally dwelled in Kannada film industry. Vidura, Manasu Maaya Seyake and Savaari 2 are his latest releases. In 2005 he received Kerala State Television Award for Best Music- Annu Mazhayayirunnu.

 

Manikanth Kadri has music in his genes. His father has an illustrious career in music associated with saxophone and regarded as one of the pioneers of Carnatic music on the saxophone. Manikanth has a very successful career in jingles. He has done over 500 commercial jingles. His first instrumental album called Dream Journey, released in 2001 was also a success. He has also composed many devotional songs. Popular track for Malayalam tele-serial Annu Mazhayayirunnu was his real breakthrough. He won a state award for this title track and very soon bagged his first movie as a music director. Smart city was released in 2006 and the following year he made his Kannada debut with Mr. Garagasa

 

In his Tamil movie Udhayan, there is a peppy number sung by both Shruti Haasan (Yevan Ivan) and Baba Sehgal. He also collaborated with a Malaysian band, Lock Up for the first time for this album. Maduve Mane, Savaari, Male Bille, Swayamvara, Prithvi, Crazy loka and Ijjodu are some of his popular Kannada movies.
