Mani Prasad Biography 
Pandit Mani Prasad is an Indian Hindustani vocalist who performs in Kirana style of singing. He is quite popular with devotional music such as bhajans and abhangs. His father, Sukhdev Prasad received direct training from Abdul Karim Khan and Abdul Wahid Khan, the founders of the Kirana Gharana. Later Mani Prasad was trained in this style of singing by his father. Mani Prasad is quite active with his presence on All India Radio, and is an A-graded artiste too. He is a recipient of numerous honours including Rajasthan Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, Sangeet Kala Ratna, Ustad Faiyyaz Khan - Ustad Niaz Khan Memorial Award, Srimati Gangubai Hangal Award, Swarmani Award, Baba Allaudin Khan Award etc.
Mani Prasad was born into a family of musicians. He inherited his music talents from his father, Sukhdev Prasad, a direct disciple of founders of Kirana Gharana. Since young, Mani used to accompany his father for live concerts, and also received training since young. At a younger age, they shifted the base to Delhi, where he later settled, and got busy with his Hindustani and bhajan concerts. Apart from his father, he also received guidance from his grandfather Shakti Lal and uncles Shankar Lal and Gopal Prasad, other musicians from his family.
Following the family tradition, Mani Prasad too pursued music. He gained immense fame through the concerts he performed for All India Radio, where he remained a top graded artist. Apart from his concerts, he also trained numerous disciples, and a few of them became very popular. Noted singers - Chandan Dass, Surinder Kaur, Ranjitsinh Pratapsinh Gaekwad of Baroda, Savita Devi Maharaj etc are a few among his disciples. Currently he teaches music at Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Dha Ni Sa Academy of Music in Mumbai instituted by Gajendra Singh.
