Mandya Ramesh Biography

Mandya Ramesh is a very popular actor, comedian, director and theatre personality associated with Kannada entertainment industry. He started his professional journey with theatre in 1982, and later moved to films and television as well. He attended several theater workshops before he took acting as his profession. Janumada Jodi alongside actor Shiva Rajkumar marked his film debut in 1995, and since then he is fully engaged in Kannada cinema, playing significant character and comic roles. Natana is his school for theatre arts which performs acting workshops across Karnataka. He currently serves as its founding director.

Ramesh was born on 14 July 1964 in Mysore State of present day Karnataka. He was drawn towards theater and acting, after he attended a theater workshop conducted by Ashok Badaradinni, a graduate from NSD. He started his theatre career in 1982 through his workshop, and stayed active in the field for so many years. In 1984 he joined Neenasam theatre institute as an actor and technician. After 5 years he joined Rangayana and worked under B. V. Karanth for around 9 years. Mruccha Katika, Sankranthi, Yuyuthsu etc are his famous plays. With experience in theatre for more than 13 years, he joined films in the year 1995. Since then he has acted in around 150 Kannada movies.

In 2002 he founded his own school for theatre arts, Natana. He has also authored two non-fiction books, Rangavalli and Kanavarike, which described his experience in theater world. As a film actor, he is best known for the works of Janumada Jodi, Nagamandala, Kanasugara, Mata, Oggarane etc. Some of his popular TV shows are Janani, Manethana, Chi Sou Savithri etc.
