Mandeep Kaur Biography

Mandeep Kaur is an Indian sportswoman who competes in women’s athletics. She specializes in the 400 meters event and was a part of the Indian team of 2008 Olympics.

 

She was born on 19th April 1988 in Ludhiana in Punjab. Her father’s name is Jasbir Singh and her mother’s name is Sarabjit Kaur. She could not pass the first round in the 2008 Olympics but won gold at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in the 400 meter relay event. She also grabbed gold in the same category in the 2006 as well as 2010 Asian Games.

 

She was blamed for using the anabolic steroids methandienone and stanozolol on 29 June 2011 and was announced by the Athletics Federation of India. She put her accusation on the food supplements and refused to accept that she took those drugs intentionally. She was caught along with 5 other Indian women for this cause during the Commonwealth Games and was fired by the Indian Sports Minister Ajay Maken.
