Manali Dey Biography

Manali Dey is a popular actress associated with Bengali movies and television. She made her acting debut as a child artist in the Bengali film Kali Aamar Maa in 1999. Later she made her mark as a popular television actress of daily soaps. Neer Bhanga Jhor in 2008 marked her television debut and now she is fully busy with small screen. She currently plays the role of Nidhi in the popular show on ETV Bangla, Bhule Jeona Please. She also anchors the show, Rannaghor on Zee Bangla since 2012. Sokhi, Bou Kotha Kao and Mohona are other noted appearances on small screen.

Manali was born in Picnic Garden, Kolkata. She is the single girl child to her parents - Nitai Dey and Manisha Dey. Her schooling was done at Ballygunge, Kolkata. While studying at school itself she started her film journey as a child artist. Kali Aamar Maa in 1999 directed by Shantilal Soni was her first break to acting. She was a child model to a Bengali magazine, which gave her the first break to silver screen. Since then she got interested in acting and did a few film roles, though she later switched to small screen completely.

She made her adult debut through 2009 science fiction film – Rajdrohi, where she shared screen space with Swathi and Anshuman. Swathi and Manali played female leads of the movie, directed by Tapan Banerjee. The movie also included a track sung by the legendary singer Asha Bhonsle. She was later seen in the movie Achin Pakhi directed by Anjan das, followed by Sthaniyo Sangbad directed by Arjun Gourisaria and Moinak Biswas, both released in 2010. By that time she switched to small screen and earned popularity as a successful actress.
