Mahesh Narayan Biography

Mahesh Narayan is a young film director and editor associated with Malayalam cinema, whose debut film ‘Take Off’ created a lot of buzz in the industry, winning numerous international film festival awards, national awards and state awards, apart from numerous television awards. He received Kerala state film award 2018 for the Best Debut Director for his amazing work in Take Off, and the movie also brought him to spotlight, one of the biggest films of the year. Prior to his entry as a film director, he worked as an editor in the industry, and some of his major works include - Beautiful, How Old Are You, Traffic, Kanyaka Talkies, Viswaroopam, and the master class - Ennu Ninte Moideen.

 

Mahesh Narayan hails from Thiruvananthapuram, and is currently settled in Kochi. He completed his graduation from University College Thiruvananthapuram, after which he joined M.G.R. Government Film and Television Training Institute in Tamil Nadu, to do his editing course. After completing his course, he started off doing documentary films and short films. He marked his film debut with Malayalam film, Raathrimazha, and won critical acclaim. Later he got opportunity to work in Hindi and Tamil films as well. He has also done a couple of Telugu films.

 

He worked as an editor for Kamal Hassan’s Viswaroopam, released in Tamil and Hindi and a few more languages. Beautiful, How Old Are You, Makaramanju, Mumbai Police, Traffic, Rathrimazha and Ennu Ninte Moideen are among his best works in Malayalam. Known for his association with acclaimed director, Rajesh Pillai, he also completed the work of ‘Take Off’ after his sad demise. The movie was released under Rajesh Pillai’s production banner. Incidentally, Mahesh had also written the script of 'Milli', which was directed by late Rajesh Pillai.
