Mahesh Kathi is a well-known film critic and actor associated with Telugu cinema. He is also known as a social and political critic. He appears in films since 2010, and Egise TaaraJuvvalu, Nene Raju Nene Mantri and Kobbari Matta are his appearances in 2017. He was one of the contestants of Bigg Boss Telugu (season 1) aired on Star Maa in 2017, and he got evicted on Day 27. Thus he completed at position 12 for this popular reality show.

Mahesh hails from Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh. He was born on December 12, 1976. He studied film theory in HCU. He started his entertainment career doing short films. Vooru Chivuru Illu was his first venture, which was the first crowd funded short film in Telugu. He also co-scripted Minugurulu, the first Telugu script to be preserved in the Oscar Library‘s permanent core collection. The film was selected as Best Indian Film at the 9th India International Children's Film Festival held at Bangalore, and also became first ever Telugu film that is contended for OSCAR best feature (2014). He is also known for playing short, but meaningful roles in Telugu cinema. As of now, he appeared in 8 films. He made his entry as an actor through Rajinikanth starrer Ethiran released in 2010, where he appeared in a brief role as a customer at a saloon.

Most recently he openly told the media that Pawan Kalyan's Fans harass him, inviting controversies. The 40-year-old film critic, who has also been a filmmaker, received hatred from Pawan Kalyan’s fans for his public comments on Pawan Kalyan's films, his political role and also his party Jana Sena. He was publically trolled in the social media. Mahesh's comments that Pawan Kalyan's political activism is limited to tweeting on different subjects sporadically, irritated Pawan’s fans. He criticized the actor's acting capability, leadership qualities and intellect levels too.
