Mahek Chahal Biography

Mahek Chahal is a Bollywood actress and model of Punjabi origin. She originally hails from Oslo, Norway and is a successful model too. She made her film debut through classic comedy, Naya Padosan in 2003. She played lead role opposite three young heroes, Anuj Sawhney, Vikas Kalantri and Aslam Khan and she received instant recognition as well. It was followed by an item song, Meinu saat samandar of Kareena Kapoor starrer Chameli in 2004. She was also a runner-up of the controversial celebrity show on Colors TV – Bigg Boss season 5. Though she was voted out of the show earlier, she entered again as Wild card entry and managed to finish second. This show earned her quick recognition though she was garnered a lot of controversy. Mahek launched clothing line most recently in Norway, titled Mahek Chahal Clothing.  

Mahek started her modelling career long before she reached Mumbai and entered Bollywood. She has been a successful Norwegian model, who won many beauty pageants. 'Miss Movie International' of Europe was the first major title won by her. After winning this contest she got a free ticket to Mumbai and that’s how she landed to Indian fashion and entertainment world. She started her career as a model and appeared in television commercials of Godrej Refrigerator, Fevicol, Bombay Dyeing, Bar-One Chocolate etc.

Mahek became very popular through hit music videos like "Dil Te Maar Gayi” of Manmohan Waris and "Chak De Boli" and "Jindey" of Jazzy B and Sukshinder Shinda. She was first considered for the negative role of Ajnabi which later went to Bipasha Basu. She later joined Kishore Namit's acting school in Mumbai and made her acting debut through Nayi Padosan. Later she worked in Salman Khan's Wanted and Main Aurr Mrs Khanna and also did item songs for Chameli and Yamla Pagla Deewana. She was also seen in Punjabi movie, Jatt Airways.
