Madurai T. Srinivasan Biography 
Madurai T. Srinivasan is a well-known Carnatic musician and artist. He is a mridangam artist who has accompanied some of the leading Carnatic vocalists of the 20th century for their musical performances. He also played Mridangam in many South Indian movies, and owns more than 4 decades of experience in this field. His elder brother T.Venkatesan was an expert in vocal Music. His brother Madurai T. Sethuraman was a connoisseur of Dance music. 'Mridanga Chakravarthy' is one of his major works in Tamil cinema, where he performed for Prabhu, who played the role of Shivaji Ganesan’s son.
Madurai T. Srinivasan was born to Madurai Thiruvengada Iyengar and Alarmelu Ammal in Madurai, Tamil Nadu. Since young he was inclined towards music. Madurai Balakrishna Iyengar was his father’s friend who used to frequently visit their home. During such visits, when they discussed about musical subjects, young Srinivasam used to participate in them and had a habit to tap his fingers on Mr. Balakrishna Iyengar's head like playing a Mridangam. Iyengar recommended him to a music school, after watching his interest in music.
Initially he studied under Chozhavandhan Sesha Iyengar in Gurukula system of teaching. He later learnt both vocal music and Mridangam from Sesha Iyengar for seven years. He used to go to school during day time and learn music in the evening for 4 hours daily. At the age of 11, he gave his first concert accompanying his elder brother. When the family moved to Chennai, he continued with his musical journey. While at Chennai he befriended Vaidhyanadhan, a popular lyricist which gave him first chance to Tamil cinema as a percussionist. 'Edhirparadhadhu' was his first film work. He has played over 100 movies till now, and is still active in the field. He also worked in AIR.
