Madhu Sapre Biography

Madhu Sapre’s name is always among the top female models of modeling industry of India. She represented India at the 1992 Miss Universe pageant and was second runner-up too. She was the top model during 90’s and has also been in news for the infamous nude photo shoot with another model – Milind Soman. They posed nude in a print ad for Tuff Shoes wearing only shoes and a python wrapped around them. The social service branch of the Mumbai police had registered a case in August 1995 and another case was also filed under the Wildlife Protection Act against the advertising agency for illegal use of the python. The case lasted for 14 years and was dismissed recent only.

Madhu Sapre was born in Maharashtra on July 14, 1971. During early 90’s she was an athletic. But from younger age she began to accept modeling assignments. Miss India and Miss Universe contests placed this beautiful model among the most wanted models of the list and she was at no.1 position till middle 90’s. Her photo shoot with Milind Soman gave her negative publicity. But yet it was through this ad and cases registered on her, that she became a known face all over India. She is always regarded as one among the super models of India and inspiration to many models to come. She is uniquely beautiful, tall, spunky and ethnic which helped to remain her in the top position. Madhu was one of the models who put forward the suggestion of introducing swimming suit category in Miss India contests and later India has achieved many wins in such international beauty pageants.

It’s widely believed that it was her unusual answer at Miss. Universe final round that let the crown go from her hands. The question was what she would do if she was the prime minister of her country and she answered with neglectance. She replied in bad English that she would build a sports complex for the country. The final result was that she had to satisfy with third position though her chances were more to win the crown in the contest. She won 9.9 out of 10 in the swimsuit round of the prestigious contest and also received the honour of being number one in her evening gown designed by Sangeeta Chopra. Many people criticized her not for telling anything about improving country’s economic status and social position. Even today she denies having said anything wrong and has told about the difficulties she had faced as an athlete. She also claims that she had been truthful to the core and felt that she really could not make any difference by being the Prime Minister.

Madhu has appeared in super flop movie, Bhoom. She had a brief relationship with super model Milind Soman whom she always regards as the best male model of India. Now she is settled in Italy with her husband Gian Maria.
