Maadhu Balaji Biography 
Maadhu Balaji is a stage actor and comedian associated with Tamil entertainment industry. He is the brother of popular Tamil actor Crazy Mohan and the brother duo has been associated together for many successful theater plays. The brothers along with a few friends established Crazy Creations in 1979, currently one of the leading Drama Troupe in Tamil stage today. Balaji is his real name, and he added ‘Maadhu’ tag to his name as prefix after the memorable character Nagesh played in the movie, Neechal in 1968. Balaji acts as Maadhu, the lead role in all their drama productions, and has the amazing track record of not missing even one of these shows.
For over three decades now, R Balaji has been the constant hero of all Crazy Mohan’s plays. Through the characters he played on stage, he is popularly known as Maadhu in the friends’ circle and among fans. The name Maadhu, originally taken from a character name of Nagesh’s film was used for the play Allaudin and the 100 watts bulb. The show became a huge success, and later he kept the name throughout his career for his plays.
He was once offered the lead role in Manal Kayiru, a Tamil film. He was also very keen to act in films. But, his mother denied permission. She wanted him to act in stage plays. She passed away soon and after her demise he lost interest in cinema and started concentrating on dramas. In the 1990s and later, Kamal Hassan offered him roles of Panchathanthiram and Avvai Shanmughi which he declined. On an average they stage 140 to 150 shows a year, and in the busy schedule he couldn’t afford films. Yet he has done a few memorable roles on silver screen such as Poovellam Kettuppar, Jerry etc and a few television roles.
