M. Edwin Biography 
M. Edwin is the Director of Footloose, a leading dance academy. He is a dance master who trains students for reality shows and nationwide competitions. He successfully runs the dance school ‘Foot Loose’, an initiative started by him. The school is known for winning streak done many contestants before – either through national level competitions or reality shows on television and among his students include Michael Thangadurai - Vijay TV - Jodi Number One in Season 3, who later successfully started a career in Tamil cinema. Actually the winning streak started in 2001 with Thilana Thilana on Sun TV followed Daya in the same channel, the next year. In the past 24 years, more than 50,000 students have emerged from the portals of Footloose, making it one of the leading dance schools of south India.
Edwin was born and brought up in Chennai where he completed his studies. Since young he was drawn towards fast dancing numbers. He studied at Santhome High School, where Prabhudeva also studied. Though Edwin was attracted to dance forms and took part in competitions, he was not able to win any. Though he was a dedicated student in class, he didn’t forget his first love to dance. He completed Engineering and also earned a job at Coimbatore. But he began dance as a part-time occupation and later also attended a Teacher’s Training course in Classical Ballet under the R.A.D. syllabus in Malaysia. He earned a certificate course in Latin American styles at the A&J Studio in Singapore. He learnt Hawaiian, Village Folk, Contemporary and Latin American styles of dance forms.
Though his parents questioned his decision to leave a permanent job, he wanted to pursue his dreams. He organised Footloose with precision, which is successfully running for more than 25 years. His students have bagged prizes at national-level dance contests and also reality shows. He plans to introduce street plays and also want to start a play school for kids.
