Listin Stephen Biography

Listin Stephen is a film producer associated with Malayalam and Tamil cinema. He has produced several commercial and critically acclaimed movies in both these languages. Traffic (2011), Chaappa Kurish (2011), Ustaad Hotel (2012) and How Old Are You (2014) are his major hits in Malayalam while in association with Sarath Kumar, he has produced a few Tamil movies such as Maari (2015), Idhu Enna Maayam (2015) and Paambhu Sattai (2016). He also remade his successful Malayalam ventures to Tamil.

He made his production debut with Traffic (2011), which marked the era of new-age film making in Malayalam. His second production Chaappa Kurish (2011) also belonged to the same category and both these movies have been commercially successful. It was followed by Ustaad Hotel in 2012, which accumulated numerous awards at National Film Awards. The movie bagged three National Film Awards, including the one for the Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment. With three staright hits, he became one of the successful film producers of Malayalam in the recent times.

Since then he has produced several commercial hits, which received rave reviews from critics as well. He produced the film, How Old Are You in 2014 which marked the comeback of the iconic heroine of Malayalam cinema 1990s, after a long break of 14 years. The film with a good social message was a big hit at box office too. Chirakodinja Kinavukal was his single Malayalam release in 2015, which received good reviews from critics for its humour.

The producer with the magic touch made his successful Malayalam ventures - Traffic (2011) and Chaappa Kurish (2011) to Tamil titled Chennaiyil Oru Naal and Pulivaal respectively. Currently he is working on two Malayalam projects starring Mohanlal and Fahadh Fazil. He belongs to Uzhavur of Kottayam district, hometown of former President of India, K.R. Narayanan. His brother Justin Stephen is a professional footballer.
