Lisa Ray Biography

Lisa Ray is a Canadian actress and model who has worked for many Indian movies and did modeling too. Though she is a successful model, she is known most for her musical videos Afrein of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Har taraf tere jalwa of Deler Mehndi. Both these videos caught the eyes of Indian television viewers during late 90’s and she became one among the top models at that time. She was successful in her debut Bollywood thriller Kasoor opposite Aftab Shivdasani. She was the brand ambassador of Rado watches in India at that time. Most recently she was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, cancer of white blood cells and she did stem cell transplant. In 2012, she declared that she is completely cured as a result of stem cell transplant and very soon, she tied knot with Jason Dehni, management consultant.

Now a sneak preview on her modeling career. Her father is a Bengali Hindu while her mother, a Polish Christian. She drew attention from Indian public when she did an ad for Bombay dyeing in early 90’s. Very soon she became a sensation in Indian magazines and Times of India Polls declared her as the 9^th most beautiful lady of the millennium. Then she witnessed a sharp rise in her career graph and did many assignments as well. She was to return back to Poland, but her mother’s accident prompted her to stay back in India.

By this time, she debut through a Tamil movie Netaji, opposite Sarat Kumar. Her next movie was in Telugu opposite Mahesh Babu, named takkari Donga. Two album songs – Jalwa of Delher Mehndi and Afreen of Fateh Ali khan made her a successful video model too. After Kasoor in 2001, she acted in a couple of Deepa Mehta Movies. Hollywood Bollywood and Water were those two movies. In Water, she acted opposite John Abraham. Rahul Khanna was her hero in Hollywood Bollywood. She has acted in a few international projects also.

By this time she was detected with cancer and she took a break from her career. She returned back after treatment and appeared in ‘1 a Minute’ doco-drama featuring many cancer treated patients.
