Lillete Dubey Biography

Lillete Dubey is a Bollywood actress, most noted for supporting roles. She is also a successful theatre artist. Her sister Lushin Dubey is a theatre actor and director. Her daughters - Neha Dubey and Ira Dubey have appeared in Bollywood movies. She entered movies in the late 1990’s and has appeared in numerous Bollywood movies in supporting roles since then. Bawandar, Zubeidaa, Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, Monsoon Wedding, Kitne Door... Kitne Paas, Om Jai Jagadish, Pinjar, Kal Ho Naa Ho, Baghban and Chalte Chalte are her early noted appearances.

She was born in Pune on 7 September 1953. She married Ravi Dubey on September 12, 1978. The couple has two daughters who have acted in Bollywood movies. Her daughter, Neha Dubey has also appeared aside Lillete in Mira Nair's movie Monsoon Wedding, where she was featured in one song – Chunari. They have together appeared in another movie - Bow Barracks Forever. Her second daughter, Ira Dubey has appeared in movies like Aisha and The President Is Coming. Lillete Dubey gained attention through the memorable roles she played in Bawander, Baghban and Kal ho na ho.

In 2012, she debut international cinema through British movie - The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel. Heroine, Chashme Baddoor, Dabba (The Lunchbox) and I m 24 are her most recent Bollywood appearances. She is also an acclaimed theatre director, television and film artist who founded Theatre Action Group in Delhi. Mahesh Dattani's Dance like a Man, the longest running play in English was staged under her production house. She has 25 year experience in theater and has acted in serials like Raahein (Zee TV) and Aur Phir Ek Din (STAR Plus).
