Leo Prabhu Biography 
Leo Prabhu is a well-known dramatist, playwright and novelist from Tamil Nadu. A doyen of Tamil theater, he has been associated with S. V. Sahasranamam and Y. G. Parthasarathy in his career in Tamil theater as a playwright. He is also a finest stage actor with lots of experience in theatre. For his overall contributions to field of Tamil theatre, government of Tamil Nadu honoured him with Kalaimamani in 1990, an award in recognition to the personalities related to art and cinema. His daughter Murugashankari Leo is a well-known Bharathnatyam dancer.
Leo hails from Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, and he was born in the year 1933 during British rule in India. He loved football and acting since childhood. Yet later he chose art over sports and earned fame and recognition in this field. A versatile dramatist, he has given some amazing contributions to the theater in the role of an actor as well as playwright, and has worked with many leading play directors who promoted this art form in the post-independent era. He has also directed a few plays and television serials too.
He has also acted in a few Tamil films in the 1970s and 1980s, though this stint has not been successful so far. Naan Mahaan Alla (1984), Puthir, Anney Anney, Paruva Kaalam, Per Sollum Pillai etc are some of the Tamil films in which he played character roles, and went unnoticed. He tasted success as a writer and dramatist, and owns years of experience in this field. He founded his own troupe STAGE IMAGE, through which he staged many popular plays and earned success and fame. He is associated with the field since 1950.
