Laxmi Narayan Chaudhary Biography

Laxmi Narayan Chaudhary is a leading politician from Uttar Pradesh belonging to Bharatiya Janata Party and currently a cabinet minister in the ministry formed by Yogi Adityanath ministry in 2017. He currently holds the portfolios of Dairy development, Religious works, and culture and Minority Welfare. He is currently serving as an MLA of Uttar Pradesh state assembly representing Chhata constituency. He holds the educational qualification of LLB and graduation, and is an agriculturist by profession. He has earlier served as a cabinet minister in the ministry formed by Mayavati.

Laxmi Narayan Chaudhary hails from Mathura, Uttar Pradesh. Prior to his entry in BJP, he has been a member of Mayawati’s Bahujan Samaj Party joined in the year 2006. While serving the position of cabinet minister in the ministry formed by Mayavati, he was portrayed by the media as the party's "Jat face", as he belonged to the same community. As a minister, his immense support to Mayawati to calm agitation in Jat majority areas is worth mentioning. But he joined Bharatiya Janata Party in 2015, breaking 9-year association with Mayawati’s party.

In Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly election, 2017, he successfully contested from Madhura constituency on BJP ticket. In his election manifesto, it was declared that he want to carry Prime Minister Narendra Modi's mission of development forward. Defeating Bahujan Samaj Party, he joined Vidhan Sabha, and was offered the cabinet position with portfolios, Dairy development, Religious works, and culture and Minority Welfare in the new ministry. After taking vows as Minister of Dairy development, he said that the government would impose the "Gujarat model of dairy development", one of the leading states of India in milk production.
