Lalan Sarang Biography 
Lalan Sarang was a Marathi film, television and stage actress. She was also associated with Gujarati and Hindi theatre productions. She was also a successful hotelier who owned Masemari, a seafood restaurant in Pune. She passed away most recently on November 9, 2018 in Mumbai. This veteran actress has been a part of several memorable Marathi movies and plays and had an experience in theatre field since 1970s. She was a recipient of numerous honours including ‘Grahini Sachiv Award' of GaDiMa Pratishthan, Pimpri Chinchwad Kalarang Sanskrutik Sanstha - Kalagaurav award, Jivan gaurav award 2017 etc.
Lalan Sarang was born in Mumbai, Maharashtra. Sarang was born on December 26, 1938. Lalan Paingankar is her maiden name. She was born into a big family and had 6 siblings. Her school and college education were completed in Mumbai. She was married to Kamlakar Sarang. Initially she was associated with theatre, and later she moved to big screen and television. Yet she continued with her stage career. She also served as the president of Marathi Natya Sammelan at Kankavali. She published four books - Bahardar kisse ani chatakdar pakkruti, Mi ani mazya bhumika, Natakamagil Natya and Jagle jashi.
As a stage actress, she worked with legendary artists like Shriram Lagoo and Nilu Phule in the glorious era of 1970s. Samna (1975) is one among her memorable plays. This crime drama entered into the 25th Berlin International Film Festival. Smita Patel was also a part of this play. Ha Khel Savlyancha, Udyacha Sansar, Asha ya Doghi, Aakrosh, Aarop, Umbarthyavar maap thevle, Gharkul, Chamakla Dhruvacha Tara, Sakharam Binder, Ranicha Baag, Sambhushanchya Chalit, Steel Frame etc are some of her plays. She acted in the television series, Rathchakra and a few Marathi films.
