Lal Kamal Bhowmick Biography

Lal Kamal Bhowmick is an Indian football player who is representing United Sports Club after playing for Mohun Bagan for four seasons. He is a center midfield player and winger and his is famous for scoring from the direct free kicks.

 

He was born on 2nd January 1987 in Kolkatta in India. He became famous after his participation in The National Club of India Mohun Bagan. He started to play for them since the year 2005 at his age of 22. He was the part of the Mohun Bagan team that won the 2007 Federation Cup and IFA Shield. He also played AFC Cup in the year 2007. He is serving as the vice-captain of the team.

 

He started his career with the Eveready team and his skills fetched him a place in the top clubs. Very soon he got a place in Mohun Bagan. In the Calcutta championships, he was promoted as the captain of the team in the absence of Bhaichung Bhutia.

 

In the IFA Shield 2005 final, he bagged Man of the Match award. His performance against Bayern Munich in the Farewell Math of Oliver Kahn was much praised. Ottmar Hitzfeld the coach of Bayern Munich himself praised him. Gerd Muller called him to get his training with the Bayern Munich reserve squad in 2006.

 

He took part in the U-20 team that played the AFC Youth Championship 2006. In this tournament he scored a goal against Kyrgyzstan in the first match. He also gave good performance in other matches. He also played for India U-20 team in the 2006 AFC Challenge Cup. He was called to play in the SAFF Championship.

 

He is coached by Karim Bencharifa who gives him central role in the midfield. He was voted as the best young player of the year 2007 for his performance for United Sports Club.
