Lakshmipati Biography

Lakshmipati was an actor associated with Telugu cinema, best known for his comic roles. He also played character roles on screen. Lakshmipati was the elder brother of director Shobhan, who directed the hit movie Varsham. Lakshmipati started as an anchor and comedian on Television and moved to big screen only in the late 1990s. He got his major breakthrough with 2002 film, Bobby directed by his brother and in a short career span of 6-7 years he did more than 40 films. He was found dead in his bathroom in 2008 following a massive heart attack. His body was found 2 days later. Shoban had his premature death just one month before, and he too suffered a heart attack.

Chittajalu Lakshmipati is his full name. He hailed from East Godaveri. He started his professional career in the second half of 1990s, working with television. He anchored a few shows and also acted as comedian before gaining attention through big screen roles. His younger brother Shobhan too was an established film director of the industry, with a short span in film industry. Their father owned a film theatre, and that’s the reason why the brothers got fascinated with acting and filmmaking. Both the brothers moved to Hyderabad together, and struggled a lot for getting success. Later they worked together also.

Pelli Peetalu (1998) was his first film release, in which he appeared in a brief role. He continued working in television till he got the big break through Bobby directed by his brother Shobhan. The movie also marked the directorial debut of Shobhan. He played the role of home minister in the movie, which earned him accolades.

There was no turning back after that and Lakshmipati turned a busy actor very soon. He appeared in more than 50 films in the next 6 years. The actor died of a cardiac attack in his home bathroom, just 20 days after his younger brother’s death. Quite co-incidence, siblings died in their middle ages and that too, because of heart attack. Lakshmipati was crestfallen with the sudden demise of his younger brother.
