L. V. Revanth Biography

L. V. Revanth is an Indian playback singer who predominantly works in Telugu cinema. He was the winner of Indian Idol season 9. He shot to fame singing the very popular dance number ‘Manohari’ from Baahubali: The Beginning in its original Tamil version for Prabhas. In fact he attended the audition of Indian Idol season 9 after singing more than 200 songs in Telugu including Baahubali song, and one of the rare occasions a well-established playback singer participates in a show. He won the last season of Indian Idol in April 2017. He dreams to sing in Bollywood. One of the very popular singers of Tollywood at present, he has also sung Kannada songs and for Hindi Television soaps.

 

Revanth’s full name is Lolla Venkata Revanth Kumar Sharma. He hails from Srikakulam, and was brought up in Visakhapatnam. To pursue a career in music, he later moved to Hyderabad. He lost his father before he was born, and he was brought up by his mother. He has one elder brother. He pursued his dream to become a singer by taking up a job at PCO booths and catering companies. All this helped him fund his education in music as well as to participate in reality shows.

 

He sstarted his career with music talent shows and got his first film break in the year 2008. Jhalak Dikhlaja in Maha Yagnam marked his playback singing debut. He has participated in Super Singer reality show for three seasons since 2010, where he became group winner in 2014-2015 series. Though he has sung numerous Telugu songs, M. M. Keeravani has been instrumental in cementing Revanth’s career in playback singing by giving him ‘Manohari’ song of Baahubali: The beginning. The song gave him instant fame and also IIFA Utsavam Male Playback singer award.

 

To pursue his dreams in Bollywood, he took risk and gave a break to his playback singing career. He gave up several Telugu projects to give full concentration in Indian Idol season 9. His dedication paid off and he emerged as the winner of the show. He is only the second South Indian to win this show, after Sreeramchandra Mynampati from Hyderabad. PVNS Rohit from Hyderabad also reached the finals of the show.
