Kutty Padmini Biography

Kutty Padmini is a Telugu film actress who has also appeared in a few Malayalam films. Started off her career as a child artist in the year 1959 at the age of two, she has completed 55 years in the entertainment industry – from movies to television serials. She is a recipient of National award for best child artist for the double role she played in the 1965 Tamil movie - Kuzhandaiyum Deivamum, the movie that was later made to different languages like Malayalam (Sethu Bandhanam), Hindi (Do kaliyan), Kannada (Makkala Bhagya) and Telugu (Letha Manasulu). However her first recognition as a child artist was for the Tamil movie Paasa Malar, followed by "Nenjil Oru Alayam" which earned her a state award.

Padmini was born in Chennai on June 5, 1956. She was seen as a baby of Gemini Ganesan and Savithri in one movie. Started career as a child artist at young age of 3, she earned recognition through movies like Paasa Malar, Nenjil Oru Alayam and Kuzhandaiyum Deivamum etc. Kamal Haasan appeared only for a dance sequence along with Kutty Padmini for the movie, Maanavan in 1970, which mark Kamal’s adult debut. Though Padmini played a few heroine roles, she later moved to supporting roles. She worked with both Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan for the movies – Avargal and Aval Appadithan.

She became quite successful as a television actress, director and producer. She tasted success as a serial producer. Krishnadasi is one of the most successful shows. Started with Doordarshan, she has done serials for other channels as well. Apart from Tamil, she has also done Hindi serials – Tarazu, Sreemanji, Bhool Na Jaaye in the early 1990s for instance.
