Kushal Srivastava Biography

Kushal Srivastava is a new film director associated with Bollywood. He is the nephew of well-known comedian Raju Srivastava. He marked his film debut with 2018 investigation thriller, Vodka Diaries starring Kay Kay Menon. The movie was loosely based on the 2010 movie Shutter Island. The movie released on 19 January 2018 opened to very negative reviews and it sank at box office, falling flat. The movie also starred Raima Sen and Mandira Bedi in pivot roles. Apart from a film director, Kushal is also known as a screenwriter and film producer in Bollywood. He has also directed many short films during his academic years before he moved to Bollywood, and was associated with ad film world for a long time.

He was born in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh in the year 1981. He took a film making course at the Mumbai Educational Trust, Mumbai and completed his Master’s in film making in the year 2006. He also holds an MBA degree. During his academic years, he shot several short films. One of his short films won the Best Short Film Award at the 16isto9 International Film Festival. He received the award from Aamir Khan. After doing his Master’s degree, he worked as the Chief Assistant Director to J. P. Dutta of Border fame.

He was also associated with ad-film making for a short while. Later he started a production company, Flying Dreams Entertainment Pvt Ltd which produced many ads and music videos. Owner of a young creative studio, he is an alumnus of the M2 batch from the MET Institute of Mass Media. After gaining enough success in ad world as a director and producer, he moved to Bollywood. He directed his first full-fledged feature film, Vodka Diaries in 2018. But the movie couldn’t repeat his success in ad world.
