Kunigal Nagabhushan Biography

Kunigal Nagabhushan was a veteran film actor who predominantly worked in Kannada cinema. He is best known for the roles he played in the Kannada films, S. P. Sangliyana 2 (1990), C.B.I. Shankar (1989), Daari Tappida Maga (1975) etc. He was a well-known dialogue writer and scriptwriter who wrote the script of many hit films in the 1990s. He started with acting in the 1970s, and later wrote many film scripts such as Gadibidi Krishna, Nagaradalli Nayakaru, Golmaal Radhakrishna, Golmaal Radhakrishna 2, Ganeshana Maduve, Solillada Saradara etc in the 1990s. He is a recipient of Karnataka state award for best dialogue writer twice. He won the award for the movies - Yarigu Helbedi (1994) and Gauri Ganesha (1991).

Kunigal Nagabhushan was born on 6 December 1945 in Kunigal of Tumkur district, Karnataka. His younger days were spent in his hometown, Kunigal, and later he added his place name to his name. He came to be known as Kunigal Nagabhushan in the film industry. He has been associated with more than 200 Kannada films in different roles. He has worked as an assistant director in films, acted in films, and wrote several scripts and dialogues for movies. In 2011, he was honoured with Kempegowda Award for his overall contributions towards Kannada cinema. He passed away in 2013 following a massive heart attack.

He took a degree in cinematography in the year 1961 before he joined film industry as an assistant director. He worked under many famous directors of 1960s and 1970s, and worked in many super hit Rajkumar movies too. He has also directed a few movies. Later he tried his hand in dialogue writing and script writing for leading actors like Shankar Nag and Vishnuvardhan, and got clicked.
