Kundara Johny is a Malayalam film actor known for supporting and negative roles. He handles with ease comic roles also. He shot to fame after playing a rowdy role in Kireedam and a reformed person in its sequel Chenkol. The lead role was played by Mohanlal. Apart from playing various roles in over 100 Malayalam movies, he has also done a few Tamil movies like VaazhkaiChakram and Nadigan. He was very active in negative roles during 1990s.He also got a good character role in Mammootty starrer Aavanazhi. His wife works as a Hindi lecturer at Fatima Mata National College in Kollam.

KundaraJohny belongs to Kundara of Kollam.During his college days he was interested in sports than movies. He entered movies in the year 1979.Nithyavasantam directed by Sasi Kumar was his debut movie, where he appeared in 2 scenes. The movie was finaced by his father’s friend. While shooting for the movie at Chennai, then known as Madras, he got two more film roles – Agniparvatham and Kazhukan. In all these movies, he played negative shaded roles.After playing numerous character roles onscreen, Kireedam in 1989 was the real turning point of his career. When Kireedam was made to all the rest three south Indian versions, Johny reprised the same role he played in the original.There was no turning back after that. He acted in its sequel as well as a reformed person and since then, he got many meaty character roles in Malayalam cinema. 

Later he played many memorable character roles in movies like InjakkadanMathai& Sons, Samooham, Mahanagaram, Balram vs. Tharadas, Bharathchandran I.P.S, Karimpinpoovinakkare, Oruvadakkanveeragaatha, 1921, Abkari, Spadikam,Mukham, Appu,Peruvannapurathevisheshangal, Nadodikaattu, Madhuchandralekha etc. He also played sidekick of villains in many movies, apart from comic roles.
